GED
Adults who have not received a high school diploma may enroll in the General Education
Development (GED) program. This program is designed to prepare students to pass the
GED Test, which is composed of four subject areas:
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
ELIGIBILITY
You do not need to be a resident of the State of Oregon to test at TVCC.
To qualify to take the GED test you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are 16 or 17 years old and want to test at TVCC, you need to be in one of these categories:
1. Be enrolled in a local school or educational district's GED Options program.
2. Be exempt from compulsory attendance with the last school district of enrollment's approval. To be exempt from compulsory attendance, an individual must have approval and a signed letter from the school district and from a parent or guardian.
3. Be emancipated. This is a legal mechanism by which a minor is freed from control by his or her parents or guardians, and the parents or guardians are freed from any and all responsibility toward the child. Emancipated minors must show proper documentation to be eligible to take the GED test.
If you are under 18 years old you must provide the three required documents, which can be downloaded from this site, and returned to Jann Bell (Oregon Trail - Suite 101) before your GED account will be unlocked and you can schedule official GED tests.
